Sunset across the Catalina channel came with an interesting portent New Years day. My new novel has a story within the story about a great white bird. This flight of geese over the Pacific yesterday is the first I’ve ever seen from my place on the channel. A thread 1/8

Writing projects like me are compelled to reflect and contemplate when auspicious calendar numbers show up and portents cross the skies. This thread is a reflection on how my Twitter timeline somehow became a muse for my novel and stories in 2020. 2/8

We are all writers, given the gift of life upon which to weave plot, metaphor, character and meaning. It’s a familiar notion brought back watching the new Pixar film Soul and remembering the Wim Wenders film Wings of Desire and its remake with Nick Cage in City of Angels. 3/8

Those films illustrate life demands to be lived and our relationship to the circumstances and plot twists it surrounds us in are really up to us. Our task is to illuminate these relationships in the stories of our life. As a writing project, that all comes naturally for me. 4/8

Not surprising, in this year of isolation, that my twitter feed provided a connection to the world that became a muse which powered the completion of a second novel. Everyone I listened too this year contributed. Gratitude to all who gave of themselves on my timeline. 5/8

The novel has ended up with connections between real people and fictional characters. I’m going to take the ask forgiveness instead of permission approach. I don’t actively promote my stories so the likelihood of anyone seeing the connections is small, but here’s a heads up. 6/8
